Daikin: Honor showroom warranty promises and waive extortionate repair fees.
The ask
Honor the 5-year warranty that was promised at the time of sale and waive the ₹15,000-₹20,000 repair fee entirely. Introduce strict, transparent warranty documentation at the point of sale so dealers can no longer verbally mislead customers. Take disciplinary action against showrooms that mis-sell warranties to push inventory.
My family purchased a Daikin AC from an authorized showroom for ₹39,000. At the time of purchase, the sales team explicitly promised us a 5-year warranty to convince us to buy the expensive unit. Just 1.5 years later, the AC stopped working and began leaking water. The showroom refused to help. When we contacted Daikin customer care, they claimed the warranty was only for 1 year and had expired. They then handed us an unjustified repair estimate of ₹15,000 to ₹20,000. We were forced to protest in the sun with our broken AC because we cannot afford to pay half the cost of the machine in repair fees. This is a clear pattern of showrooms mis-selling products with false promises, while the brand exploits customers on after-sales repairs.
