What Apple announced (13 October 2026)

Apple launched three home products by press release on 13 October: HomeView, its first smart home hub with a screen, the HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K. All three are coming to India.

| Product | US price | India price | In stores |

|---|---|---|---|

| HomeView | $299 | ₹39,900 | 13 November |

| HomePod mini 2 | $149 | ₹18,900 | 30 October |

| Apple TV 4K (4th gen, 128GB) | $299 | ₹39,900 | 13 November |

Pre-orders opened on 13 October. HomeView comes as a tabletop or wall-mounted model at the same price; in India, wall mounts are sold separately from ₹6,900.

HomeView

  • A 7-inch screen on a speaker base, with an A18 chip.
  • Apps, widgets and personalised content for up to six people in a home, plus guided recipes and hands-free timers.
  • Built around Siri AI, Apple's new AI-powered Siri. Some AI features need an iPhone or iPad.

HomePod mini 2

  • A faster S10 chip, a "Sound Glow" top that lights up in colours taken from the album art, and four-speaker surround sound when paired with the new Apple TV.
  • Colours: pink, green, blue, white and midnight.
  • Siri AI isn't there at launch. Apple says it will come in a later software update, in English, in countries including India. Some of its online features will have daily limits, and Apple says expanded access will cost a fee in future.

Apple TV 4K

  • An A19 chip, more storage, Wi-Fi 7 and far-field microphones for hands-free Siri.
  • A new Siri Remote ($59 in the US) adds Find My, so you can locate it if it slips down the sofa.

Why it matters

  • HomeView puts Apple up against Amazon's Echo Show and Google's Nest Hub, after years of reports that the hub was held back while Apple reworked Siri.
  • In India, ₹39,900 is well above typical smart displays, so the debate is whether Apple's design, privacy and ecosystem justify the price.
  • It is the first big test of Siri AI. A future fee for expanded access could be a sticking point.

Over to you

1. Would you put a screen like HomeView in your kitchen or living room, or is that a privacy step too far?

2. Is ₹39,900 too much for a smart home hub in India?

3. Is Apple too late to take on the Echo Show and Nest Hub?

4. Would you pay extra for Siri AI features, or should they be free?
