The match: India and Pakistan meet in the men's T20 gold medal match at the Asian Games 2026 (Aichi-Nagoya) on Saturday, 3 October 2026, at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin, Japan. Start: 10:00 AM IST / 9:30 AM PKT. It is the first time the two sides have met in a men's cricket final at the Asian Games.
What's at stake: India are the defending champions (gold at Hangzhou 2023). Pakistan are chasing their first men's Asian Games cricket gold.
Road to the final:
- All four quarter-finals were washed out, so the semi-finalists went through on T20I rankings.
- India made 169/7 against Sri Lanka, led by Ishan Kishan's unbeaten 80 off 46 balls, then bowled Sri Lanka out for 45 in under 10 overs to win by 124 runs.
- Pakistan chased a rain-revised target of 112 in 13 overs against Bangladesh. After slipping to 53/4, Abdul Samad (30 off 15) and Hasan Nawaz (27) added an unbeaten 59 to win by six wickets in 11.3 overs.
Last T20I meeting: T20 World Cup, Colombo, 15 February 2026. India posted 175/7 (Kishan 77 off 40) and bowled Pakistan out for 114 to win by 61 runs.
Captains: Shreyas Iyer (India), Sahibzada Farhan (Pakistan, with Abdul Samad as vice-captain).
Names to watch: India: Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Arshdeep Singh. Pakistan: Sahibzada Farhan, Abdul Samad, Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed.
Weather and the rain rule: Rain has hit this tournament hard. Forecasts for Saturday differ: some show a mostly dry day, while at least one flags a higher chance of morning showers. There is no reserve day. If the final is abandoned without a result, India and Pakistan share the gold and no silver is awarded (unlike 2023, when rankings decided the winner).
Where to watch in India: Sony Sports Network and SonyLIV.
So, who takes the gold: India or Pakistan? Pick a side and tell us why.

How debates work
- Pick a side. One tap, and you can switch until it closes. Only the totals are public: your side shows only next to what you post.
- Make your case. Your argument counts for your side. To answer someone’s argument, reply under it.
- Good point marks the strongest arguments, on either side: +5 rep for the writer.
- Changed my mind — an argument for the other side convinced you? Tap it there: you switch sides, and its writer gets +10 rep.
- The verdict. When time’s up, the side more people picked wins (under 5 picks, there’s no result). The argument with the most Good points on each side is crowned the best: +15 rep.
